  • ATAS International, Inc., Grant Way, Allentown, PA

ATAS has been involved in the manufacture of transpired solar collector panels for more than 15 years. Technical insights gleaned from early projects resulted in continual refinement of design, ultimately culminating in the release of the InSpire® wall solar air heating system to the sustainable construction industry in 2006. Since then, InSpire® has been installed on a wide variety of building types including schools, warehouses and office buildings, earning numerous industry awards and professional recognitions along the way.

HOW IT'S EVOLVING

We are continually discovering new applications for this solar air heating technology both in the US and internationally. In addition to using the system to provide pre-heated ventilation air in the commercial and industrial sector, the InSpire® product line now includes a modular unit designed specifically for the residential and small office market. Furthermore, solar heated air is now being used around the world for agricultural drying and industrial process applications described below.

AGRICULTURAL DRYING

In 2013 ATAS International partnered with the JM Estrada company of Colombia, manufacturer of drying equipment used for processing herbs, spices, and coffee beans in South America and abroad. Estrada received multiple awards for the InSpire® solar air heating and drying technology in a national science competition in Colombia. ATAS and Estrada continue to address the global market for agricultural process drying.

RESIDENTIAL HEATING

Since 2003, ATAS has supplied materials to Your Solar Home of Canada, for their "SolarSheat", a solar air heating system for homes and small businesses. Then in 2013, in a joint venture, ATAS and Your Solar Home released an upgraded product line designed specifically for the residential and small commercial market called "SolarSheat with InSpire® .

MODULAR UNITS

Also in 2013 ATAS introduced a modular InSpire® unit for use on rooftops, or ground mounts. This versatile design works well in wide range of applications including equipment screens as well as process drying applications (see Agricultural Drying above).
